Silly Moment of the Day

I was at the cafe in my grocery store and there is a cafe girl taking my coffee order who is beyond "silly" Her mind was definitely elsewhere, or maybe she was new to the job and she didn't realise how silly this all was.

Martiel: "Hi, I would like to order a grande Tie Chee"

Cafe Girl: "Do you mean a grande Chi Tea Latte?"

Martiel: (giggles) "oops, I mean Chi Tea Latte, thanks."

Cafe Girl: (giggles) What else would you like?

(there are 2 brown muffins and 2 beige muffins in the treat shelf) Of course the brown muffins are the chocolate ones so I specified the beige colored muffins, asking which flavor they were...

Martiel: Hmm, what flavor are the beige muffins?

Cafe Girl: Oh I am not sure, let's see...I know that the brown ones are chocolate...these aren't marked?

Martiel: Do you know what the beige muffins are?

Cafe Girl: the brown muffins are the chocolate and I think the beige ones are?...
Well, these are chocolate for sure, and these might be?...

Martiel: It looks like maybe it's a banana nut muffin? I will have the Banana Nut muffin.

Cafe Girl: I'm not sure if that is Banana Nut... this one is Chocolate. (points to the brown one)

(UGH!) Martiel: OK I will have the mystery flavored muffin please.

Cafe Girl: Which one? This one?

(OMG!) Martiel: Yes, please.

Cafe Girl: Here you go, and here is your grande Chi tea latte...

This could have been a Sitcom episode, it was so ridiculous!
The muffin was indeed Banana Nut to let you know. I enjoyed each bite and nibble of it.

Shocking Confessions

Andrew and I have never actually meet Anna Nicole Smith...but the big question on all the news stations is, "who is the father of her baby girl?"

Even the head honcho of all news stations, CNN is talking about Anna Nicole, this and Anna Nicole that on a daily basis. It must be a slow news month. I can not turn on the TV with out hearing more about Anna Drama.

Multiple guys have come forward saying they think that they are the father.

Andrew just confessed to me that HE IS the father of her baby!

House Shopping! Our 1st Home!

Andrew and I have been looking around for a house in Missouri to buy. We will be first time home buyers! No more apartment living will soon become a reality. We made an offer on the house pictured below, and got it! So far the paper work and more paper work is going on, as well as the building inspection and the bug guy came out too. We move in March and we are so excited! The house is 3 bedroom, 3 bath, living room, family room, 2 car garage, and a nice back yard with a deck. Pinch me, I must be dreaming?! The photos are provided by the Realtor site, as the current family has the house arranged. (Sorry, the colors are all distorted, and gives a poor example to show its true beauty) We have not officially moved in yet to have our own photos to post.

One of the 3 bedrooms has a boarder painted of mooses and forest trees, it matches the cabin like bedding the current home owners have. This may be a painting project in the future, not sure...I kind of like the painted boarder. This is a strange part to buying some one elses house. We are moving into a place where it holds many memories for a whole other family. Once we move into the house and it is officially our home; this room wont have the matching bedspread or a story behind the theme. It will be just a painted boarder and with no matching bed spread. If I paint over the boarder I feel like I am erasing some hard work of a project the current owners probably painted together on a weekend and bonded together with. ...Then I come in and paint it all away? But on the flip side to this, we will be painting in new memories to this room and other changes we make to the house makes this more unique to being OUR home. It will all be the beginning of new memories for us to connect with.

Owning a home will be a huge difference from renting an apartment as we have done in the past. The house is ours and we can paint funky boarders to match a bed spread, we can have a kitty for a pet and not have to worry about paying an additional $25 in rent for pets, we can do jumping jacks on the floor knowing it won't make load noises being the ceiling of the apartment below us! We get a garage, etc. which we did not have in renting apartments.

Here are photos some photos to walk you through what the house looks like. Starting with the living room. There is a window seat which has storage inside to keep afghans. Next to the living room is the dinning room and kitchen. The sliding glass door goes out to the deck and back yard. There is also a built in curio cabinet in the corner of the dinning room. I was excited to see this stay with the house. I liked it when I first saw it and thought the curio fitted perfectly in the corner there. Little did I know at the time the curio was built in for that particular corner. COOL!

The bath rooms: One has the original tub in a lovely shade of green, which will be a future project to update it.
The Master Bath is European style to keep the person in the shower separate from the other brushing their teeth, etc.
This 3rd bathroom is down stairs with the family room. Here are photos of the family room down stairs with a fire place. These photos are all from the Realtor site and some how the colors are all distorted after I pasted these into the Blog. The walls are NOT gray! They are a modern shade of mocha, and upstairs in the kitchen is butter yellow.

Some photos of the backyard with deck. The area of trees are in the common area behind our property and goes into a park.

Jobs I Have Had In The Past PART II

In my previous post, I ran down a list of jobs I have had in the past and apparently forgot some. My dad reminded me of a few other jobs I worked with.

Back in the Summer before College

Public Events- I did an office job, taking orders for tickets to the college events such as plays and concerts. I organized the fliers, and stuffed envelopes, and also attended the events. This was a fun job.

Sears- I holiday job folding merchandise in the lingerie's department.

Vanir Construction Management- internship as an office assistant for the interior designer.

What is a unique or off the wall job you have had in the past? Leave me a comment.

What Do You Want To Be When You Grow Up?

When I was a kid there was the age old question, "What do you want to be when you grow up?"

I wanted to be a school counselor, a hand model for jewelry stores, or a tap dancer. I do have a pair of tap shoes, and my grandma once taught me some tap dance steps when I was a kid, but I did not pursue to be the next Ginger Rogers. I went to college and then some more college, to the point where I thought I would be a student for the rest of my life. I am finally done with school and recently graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Business Management. Now I have my degrees and I do not really know what comes next. What is my career exactly? What DO I want to be now that I am grown up?

My dad requested for me to blog a list of all the jobs I have had in the past, I have had a WIDE variety, adding to my many talents. Here you go.

Pre-teen:

1. Babysitter for the kids at the Avon Meetings, who would come along with their moms.

2. Babysitter in general

3. House sitter- I watered the plants and feed/walked the dogs while a family was away.

High School:

4. Rock Solid Recycling Co. – I worked after school as my first official job. I rode on the side of the recycle truck through neighborhoods emptying the recycle bins, hopping on an off the truck. I also worked at the recycle yard, sorting the items into categories.

College:

5. Baskin Robbins- I scooped ice-cream, and decorated cakes.

6. Gottschalk’s Dept Store – I was a sales associate in the accessories department. I liked marking down the clearance items, to be the first to know the good prices. I enjoyed setting up the display case for the watches and helping the customers find the perfect necklace to match an outfit they had or find jewelry sets for a wedding party.

7. La Playa Mexican Restaurant – I was a cashier to take the food orders. The cash register buttons were in Spanish and I was constantly mixing up the chicken and pork options. I ended up getting fired because I just didn’t know enough Spanish to get the job right.

Then I moved to Burbank:

8. Bombay Store in the mall- I was a sales associate, and assembled the furniture to display of the sales floor.

9. IKEA Store- Cashier, Sales Associate, and then a Labeler. As a Labeler I printed out all of the sales banners for the store and ordered the supplies and pamphlets for the departments to have there sales and product information.

10. Set Decorator – internship with Disney to set decorate a promo for the Lilo N Stitch movie back when it was new. I helped set up a beach scene in the studio for the teen band to sing their hit song. The band was called A-Teens.

11. Interior Decorator- intership to redecorate an office with an interior decorator

12. Interior Decorator- self employed. I remodeled an accounting firm, and decorated two homes.

13. Temp as a receptionist for Warner Brothers Studios mainly. This was a fun job temping at the various WB offices around the studio lot. I got to walk through the fake towns to get to the cafeteria for my lunch break.

14. Temp as a file clerk for a funeral office. That was a weird job. I was filing the account bills for people who have died. The company organized the billing that follows after a person dies, like the bill for the caterer at the wake, the cremation fees, funeral bills, etc. One of my oddest jobs, so far.

Ohio:

15. Temp once again being new to the area. I temped at a phone co. doing data entry. Then for an elevator company and updated their computer program to match up with the paper work they were transitioning to go paperless on one area of the job and use the new computer program.

16. Bed Bath & Beyond- it only lasted about 2 weeks and then I quit. I didn’t like having to use the “airplane ladder” to take down stock.

17. Claire’s Accessories Store- I was an assistant manager. One of my favorite jobs of all, I became a professional ear piercer.

18. IRS- Data Transcriber, entered information from the tax forms into the computer.

Missouri:

19. Temp as a receptionist.

Now what comes next? I will hopefully start a career in the hotel industry. I would like to eventually get into the event planning side to hotels and work with the conventions and weddings. I have my Bachelor of Science in Business Management, now I just need some one to hire me! =)

I have an interview today at the Marriott Hotel, wish me luck!
