Poem I wrote in 2008

I'm trying to clean up my computer folders and I am looking through old word docs that I have written. I have a couple of poems and a wide variety of other things I have written. So the next couple of blogs here are old by a few years...I am just copy/paste all of the writings that I want to share on this blog. I have in mind that some day when Kara is older she can refer back to this blog and read through what her momma wrote about. Assuming this blog site will be around and also have all my postings still stored online...I sure hope Kara likes these when she is older.

A Man & a Woman in the Bookstore Café

Observational poem by: Martiel Hay
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
He gazes into her eyes
As she rattles on about something insignificant
He is mesmerized by her smile
And the green shade of eye shadow she has on
She leans forward in her seat
Anticipating his next word

He discreetly glances at his watch
The spark is dying down…
As he sips his hazelnut latte
She says something funny
Catching his attention
Still not sure how this blind date is going
He hopes to leave holding hands

She’s starting to get the first date jitters
And nervously tares her café napkin
As their date is coming to an end
They leave together from the bookstore café
Not holding hands
But just as good friends

To be continued…
Here is a poem I came across on my computer. I wrote it back in 2006, 5 years ago. I had just moved to Missouri back then when I wrote this poem.

Summer Day Confusion

The sun is blinding
Like a summers day
Or the middle of May
I want to go out and play
While the weather is not too cold
Or so I am told

It is November remember
The trees have gone topless
Dropping their leaves
And exposing their branches!
It is mid-November
But seems like summer
I am wearing my sunglasses
And running the AC
Can't you see
The confusion
With this the illusion?

Is it winter
Or summer
who decides
I feel warm and see blue skies
Right before my very eyes
It should be November
And it might be winter
It feels more like summer
Could have fooled me
As I turn on the AC

What a week!

This is a blog that never was posted, and stuck in the "draft" part of my blog writing. I just now came across this and some others to post. Written June 6, 2010! So a little over a year ago, I wrote this and Kara was 15 months old. I'll have to find the photos and post along with this blog later.
**********************************
Sunday we went to the Rennasaince Fair with our friend, Carissa and her two kiddos. Kara had it easiest, being pushed around in a stroller the whole time, and being fanned to keep cool from the 80+ degrees out. We had a blast there. When we got there, we first checked out the pirate and juggler show. There was a lady pirate on stage singing a little ditty with adult humor mixed in it. The funny part was she had pointed out that her 2 year old son was in the audience...he was sitting over by us about three people over. When she started to sing the song, her son was singing right along word for word. He doesn't even know half of what he is saying means. Andrew and I took turns riding a camel, which was an experience I never thought of doing before. Riding the camel was a spontaneous opportunity. We ended our Rennasaince Journey with meeting the Queen and she granted Kara as Princess Kara, handing her an official Rennasaince scroll tied up with royal purple ribbon. My friend's daughter was also granted as Princess Ellie. The girls were honored to be given such a role. Ellie is older, 4 years old, so this was more exciting to be named Princess Ellie. My friends son, was also sworn in by one of the knights to be a Jr. Knight and to help protect both the Queen and her Village. The Knight had a large, shinny sword; and Carissa's son knelt down on one knee, while the knight touched shoulder to shoulder with the sword. It seemed so official and exciting!

CHECK THIS OUT! So Clever!

a-pool-in-the-river-for-everyone

The link above takes you to a website showing details of the this AWESOME, INOVATIVE, THE NEXT BIG THING, idea thought up by 3 Dudes who wanted to swim on a hot day in the River. This is so very genius of them to design this. These guys will go far in life and become billionairs if this lifts off of the drawing board! Some day soon, I hope all the rivers and lakes can get floating pools to enjoy the water better.

The idea is to have a pool in the river which filters the water of the river and keeps cleaner water for people to swim in than just the river water alone...most times it is not safe to swim in a river with all the gross water out there with its dead fish, and pollutants in the water. This pool idea also contains the people to an area and not having them in the vast body of water that a river has.

This is so brilliant! What a great way to use up natural resources and cool down the community in the hot summers. This is first being planned to be build and created in a New York River...but if this takes off there are so many locations for this idea of a floating pool to be used. There's the Ohio River, Chicago, Great Lakes, New Orleans, St. Louis, and others all over the nation to benefit from this floating pool idea. Don't forget the lakes too! This floating pool idea would work nice in parks with lakes!

DONATE to the floating pool project. Donate to this project of the Floating pool and help raise money in such an awesome, innovative, fabulous solution! Something as small as a DOLLAR donation can swim it's way to happiness and help create the 1st floating pool.
